To AI or not to AI..that is the question.

artificial intelligence post Jan 13, 2026

I have been a free-floating writer all my life. Whatever thoughts come to my mind, I would jot them down and they somehow became golden nuggets of wisdom. Or at least I thought they were. As I entered graduate school for my doctorate, I had less and less brain space or desire to write so prolifically. And most of my classes did not want prose, but rather technical writing. Yikes. So, when I heard about Artificial Intelligence become more prevalent in helping people write resumes, articles, blog posts, naturally, I resisted. It felt like plagiarism, but with an AI buddy cheering you on. I finally relented and started playing around with Chat GPT and wow! it helped me find great content to write about when my brain wanted sleep. I was able to ask questions, get feedback, was asked more follow-up questions. I could go on for hours with my AI friend cheering me on to create a masterpiece. While I do enjoy having some of my ideas come to life sparked with my Chat GPT friend giving me great tips and suggestions on how to sound smarter and more polished, it somehow felt like all my grad school professors whispering in my ear that it was plagiarism with a technological spin. As a clinician who writes progress notes for my clients, I refuse to use (or purchase) the AI scribe to help me with my notes. I feel a deep connection to writing about my clients' pain and progress without it. I do enjoy utilizing AI to get ideas to get the juices flowing in my brain about any topic when writing blog posts or my content, I am old-school and want to write from the heart. Besides...I am way smarter and sassier than Chat GPT can ever be! And for my educators out there, I prefer my A1 than AI any day :)
